Hotel Talisman

Original room was gorgeous, however there was extremely loud construction happening on the floor above us so we asked if there was another room to have as we were getting used to the time change. Our room was changed which was lovely, but to a slightly outdated room - this wasn't an issue as it was quiet and that's what we needed!! We found the front desk employee at check in to be quick and efficient, however it also meant we didn't get a lot of information. We had to ask 3 times about parking, and it was only the 3rd time we asked that we were advised there is a key fob needed to get in. I also asked the front desk if local calls from the room had a fee and I was told it was free, however upon check out the local calls I made did have a charge. This was disappointing since I asked first, but I didn't bother pointing that out ... It was .40 euro a call so it was fine. But too bad that I asked first and got incorrect info. The restaurant staff was great, room cleaning was awesome - I think I would recommend this place, but you need to make sure to ask the right questions.

We didn't have a very nice view from our room window, but the rooms are well maintained. The pool is nice , but has too many pigeons flying around, leaving their droppings everywhere around pool & deck area, and windows around the pool are in need of a good cleaning. We appreciate the refreshing lemon water ready as we come in from the warm outside.

Mid-sized independent hotel in a convenient location near both airport (5 minute drive) and city centre (5-10 minute walk). Spacious, clean room and excellent hot buffet breakfast served at reasonable hours. Staff were helpful and organized, and the hotel is in a well maintained historic building - not a modern Eurostyle hotel that could be anywhere, as many other 4-5 star hotels in Ponta Delgada are. Overall - good value for money! Would definitely stay here again.
